THE INVITATION

Why This Book Exists

Entering the role of a First Lady is not simply a title change — it is an identity shift that unfolds publicly, spiritually, and personally.

First Lady Arrived: The First Seven Years as a Pastor's Wife and Beyond offers a reflective examination of faith-informed leadership development through lived experience.

Drawing from personal narrative, Christian spiritual growth, and leadership insight, Carolyn Livingston explores how calling, identity, and responsibility evolve through seasons of transition, uncertainty, and growth.

This book was written for those navigating visible leadership roles within ministry and community — and for those seeking to lead with integrity, purpose, and spiritual discernment while honoring God's calling on their lives.

Carolyn Livingston, MSFSCC, is a devoted servant-leader, pastor's wife, and emerging scholar whose life reflects faith, resilience, and a deep commitment to uplifting others.

After a distinguished 35-year career with the U.S. Department of Justice, Carolyn retired as an Information Technology Manager and Information Security Officer, earning numerous awards for leadership, excellence, and teamwork.

Carolyn has served faithfully alongside her husband, Pastor Sherman Livingston, for 37 years. Together, they have raised four adult children and are blessed with two granddaughters.

A lifelong learner, she is pursuing a PhD in General Psychology at Grand Canyon University, specializing in Integrating Technology, Learning, and Psychology.

In 2024, she returned to the Department of Justice as a contract IT Technical Project Manager, overseeing major infrastructure modernization initiatives.

She currently serves as a Presidential Advisor on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice and as President of her local Homeowners Association Board.

Her journey as a First Lady — marked by leadership, prayer, growth, and unexpected lessons — serves as the foundation of First Lady Arrived.

Through her writing, ministry, and scholarship, Carolyn seeks to empower women in leadership, encourage new First Ladies entering ministry, and inspire believers to embrace God's calling with courage, wisdom, and grace.
